During discussions with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping reiterated China’s commitment to supporting a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. President Xi underscored the importance of resuming peace negotiations and called for the swift establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He highlighted the necessity of a comprehensive ceasefire, the protection of civilians, ongoing humanitarian aid, and a political settlement grounded in international law.
Emphasizing his support for Palestinian self-governance, Xi stressed that the principle of Palestinians governing Palestine should be upheld. This includes managing affairs in the West Bank and the reconstruction efforts in Gaza. These elements, he noted, are crucial to achieving a sustainable and just resolution to the long-standing conflict.
The meeting between the two leaders also served as a platform to discuss the expansion of the strategic partnership between China and Jordan. Both leaders agreed on the importance of enhancing their collaboration across various sectors. They identified trade, infrastructure, transportation, digital technology, artificial intelligence, and green energy as key areas for future cooperation.
Following their talks, several cooperation agreements were signed, solidifying the intentions of both nations to strengthen their ties. The agreements reflect a mutual interest in leveraging their partnership to foster economic growth and technological advancement, while also addressing shared regional concerns.
