In a bid to enhance diplomatic ties and foster bilateral cooperation, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman has embarked on a state visit to Botswana. The two-day visit underscores the growing relationship between the two nations, with a focus on exploring avenues for mutual benefit and collaboration.
Upon his arrival at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone, the Sultan was warmly received by Botswana’s President Duma Gideon Boko. The occasion was marked by an official welcoming ceremony, where Sultan Haitham was honored with a 21-gun salute and inspected a guard of honor, reflecting the significance of his visit.
Highlighting the cultural ties between Oman and Botswana, a traditional Botswanan cultural performance was staged to welcome the Sultan. This gesture not only celebrated the Sultan’s visit but also showcased the rich cultural heritage of Botswana.
Following the welcoming festivities, the Sultan and President Boko proceeded to the Presidency Headquarters. This meeting is expected to lay the groundwork for discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, with both leaders keen on exploring opportunities that align with their respective national interests.
