In a move to enhance bilateral relations, Oman and Pakistan have signed a visa exemption agreement alongside four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) focusing on cooperation in various sectors. These agreements were formalized at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad, with the presence of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the official visit of Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

The visa exemption agreement will facilitate travel between the two countries for holders of diplomatic, special, service, and official passports, simplifying the process for eligible officials. The collaboration aims to improve institutional ties and streamline coordination between governmental agencies.

The four MoUs signed between the two nations emphasize cooperation in telecommunications, information technology, radio and television broadcasting, and the exchange of news and information. Additionally, the agreements include collaboration between Oman’s National Records and Archives Authority and Pakistan’s National Archives, promoting the sharing of technical expertise and information.

Representing Oman, Foreign Minister Al Busaidi signed the agreements, while Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar represented Pakistan. The two countries also signed the minutes of the eighth session of their Joint Ministerial Committee, underscoring their commitment to expanding bilateral relations.

These agreements symbolize a significant step in strengthening Oman-Pakistan relations, fostering partnerships across key sectors of mutual interest. The focus on technology and information exchange is expected to pave the way for enhanced cooperation and development in these areas.
