The third edition of a youth training initiative in Oman has successfully wrapped up, concentrating on the burgeoning fields of electric vehicle technologies and sustainable transport solutions. Known as the “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro) programme, this event unfolded from July 19 to August 27, engaging 35 young men and women hailing from various universities and colleges throughout Oman.
During the programme, participants delved into the core aspects of electric vehicle technology, including the intricacies of charging infrastructure and network planning. They also gained insights into the maintenance and operational aspects of electric vehicles. A key focus was placed on understanding the economic advantages of electric vehicles and their significant potential to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, adding a vital environmental dimension to the training.
The initiative included workshops that addressed pressing environmental challenges and underscored the principles of sustainability. Special attention was given to aligning these teachings with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. To foster practical problem-solving skills, participants engaged in activities designed to devise solutions tailored to the specific environmental needs of their local communities.
This programme is part of a larger strategy by Oman to advance sustainable transportation and work towards achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2050. By equipping young Omanis with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead in the field of sustainable transport, the initiative aims to support the country’s environmental goals and encourage the adoption of cleaner technologies.
